Settings live in three places: the Settings page, the Requests page and the theme editor (for how the blocks look). This page lists them all.
On the Settings page
Open Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG Reviews › Settings. The sections come in this order.
Admin language
| What it does | Chooses the app’s language for you: Italian, English, German, French, Spanish or Portuguese |
| Starting value | Automatic (Shopify account language) |
| When to change it | If you want the app in a language different from your Shopify account’s |
| What happens | The app switches language straight away. Customers’ emails and pages don’t change: they follow the language of their order |
- Open the Language menu and choose the language.
-
Press Save language at the top.
What you’ll see: the message “Language saved.” and the app in the new language.
Diagnostics
This isn’t a setting: it’s the app’s health check. At the top there’s the overall verdict (All good, Partly unverified or Needs attention), then one row for each part:
| Row | What it checks |
|---|---|
| Reviews on your theme | The app can’t see your theme: you check it with Open the theme editor |
| Product sync | How many products the app knows |
| Storefront alignment | Whether product pages show up-to-date reviews |
| Review requests | How many are waiting, sent, bounced, excluded |
| E-mail sending | Whether email sending is active |
| Automatic jobs | Whether the jobs that send the emails and update the pages are running |
| Photos in reviews | Whether customers can attach photos |
| Customer questions on the product page | You check it in the theme editor |
| Link on the order confirmation page | You check it with Open the checkout settings |
Each row has a result: Fine, To fix, Not verifiable now or Only you can check this. At the bottom there’s the Support code: if you write to us, quote it.
Email sender
| What it does | Chooses the address the review requests are sent from |
| Starting value | The IFG Reviews address, always with your store’s name as the sender |
| Plan | Your own domain on Grow and Unlimited only. On Free you see the See plans button |
| What happens | After verification, emails go out from your address, for example reviews@yourstore.com |
- In the Address (before the @) field, type the first part of the address, for example “reviews”.
- In the Domain field, type your store’s domain without www. A dedicated subdomain is best, for example mail.yourstore.com.
-
Press Add domain.
What you’ll see: “Domain added.” and a DNS records to add table with 3 or 4 rows.
- Open the panel where you registered your domain (for example Cloudflare or GoDaddy) and add the records one by one, copying them from the table. If the panel has a proxy option, switch it off.
-
Go back to the app and press Verify.
What you’ll see: “Domain verified: requests now go out from your address.” If the records aren’t visible yet, you’ll see “The records aren’t visible yet.”: try again later, it can take from a few minutes to a few hours.
To go back to the IFG Reviews address, press Remove domain. If you move to the Free plan, emails go back to the IFG Reviews address on their own; the domain stays saved for when you return to Grow.
Warning: DNS records change your domain’s configuration. Only add the ones in the table and don’t touch the others, especially the ones for the email you already use.
Stars on Google Shopping
Creates the link to give Google Merchant Center. Explained step by step in Stars on Google Shopping.
Widget appearance
Colours, borders and sizes of the stars and reviews are changed in the theme editor, not here. The Open the theme customiser button opens the editor. See Showing reviews on your store.
Plan and usage
The See plans and usage button opens the Plans page. See Plans and billing.
Advanced options: Privacy requests and deliveries
Opens when you press Advanced options. It shows the privacy requests that have stalled (for example a request for access to a customer’s data) and the files ready to hand over. When a file is ready, press Prepare the link and then Download the file. No names or addresses appear here.
Data and privacy
Explains what the app keeps about your customers and what happens when one asks to be erased. The Export your reviews button leads to the export: see Import and export.
Development tools (development stores only)
Only appears on Shopify development stores, the ones used for testing. Reset store data deletes that store’s reviews, guided setup progress and activity log.
Warning: the reset can’t be undone. The app asks you to confirm with Yes, reset everything.
On the Requests page
Open Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG Reviews › Requests. After each change, press Save.
| Setting | What it does | Starting value |
|---|---|---|
| Ask for a review after every shipped order | Switches emails to customers on or off. Switching off also cancels the requests already scheduled | Off |
| How long to wait after shipping | Days between shipping and the email: 3, 5, 7, 10, 14, 21 or 30 | After 7 days |
| Send a reminder | One reminder 7 days later, to customers who haven’t answered (Grow and Unlimited) | On |
| At what time (under Advanced options) | The sending time, in your store’s time zone | 10:00 |
On development stores the days menu also has Immediately (test only): the email goes out within about 15 minutes. Real stores don’t have it.
Everything is explained in Setting up request emails.
In the theme editor
Each block has its own settings (heading, layout, columns, colours, corner radius and more). See Showing reviews on your store and, for the full list, Widgets.
If something goes wrong
I changed the language but customers get emails in another language. That’s how it should be: emails follow the language of the customer’s order.
“Sending from your own domain is included in the Grow and Unlimited plans”. You’re on the Free plan. See Plans and billing.
“That isn’t a valid domain, or it isn’t yours”. Check that you typed the domain without www and without https. A .myshopify.com address won’t do.
Verification still fails after a day. Check that the records are written exactly as in the table and that the proxy option is off. If it still doesn’t work, write to us.
