Before you start
Your catalogue must be synced. If the Products page says “No products in the catalogue”, complete step 2 of Installation.
See which products have reviews
-
Open Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG Reviews › Products.
What you’ll see: the list of your products. Each row says how many reviews the product has and its average, or No reviews.
-
Press Without reviews to see only the products that have none yet. Press All to go back to the full list.
Two labels worth knowing: Product page needs updating (the store page still shows the previous reviews; it fixes itself, or use Update the product pages on Reviews) and Deleted in Shopify (the product no longer exists in your store).
Create a link or QR code to ask for a review
Useful for a card in the parcel, a message or a sign in your shop. The link opens the product page with the review form already open.
-
In the product’s row, press Link and QR code.
What you’ll see: the Link field with the address and, below it, the QR code.
- Press Copy link to paste it wherever you want, or Download the QR (SVG) to print it.
- Press Hide to close the box.
Note: you need the reviews block on the product page, with Let visitors write a review here switched on. A review written from this link is never a Verified purchase: that badge only comes from the request email.
Let several products share reviews (groups)
A group is for when several products are really the same item: the sizes of a shirt published as separate products, or a bundle and its parts. The reviews of every product in the group appear on all the group’s pages and count towards their average.
Warning: a group immediately changes what customers see on those product pages: stars, average and reviews.
-
On Products, in the Product groups section, press Manage groups.
What you’ll see: the Product groups page with Your groups (empty at first) and Create a group.
- In the Search for a product field, type part of the name and press Search.
- In the Group name field, type a name you’ll recognise, for example “Linen shirt, all sizes”. 60 characters at most.
- Under Products in the group, tick from 2 to 20 products.
-
Press Create the group.
What you’ll see: “Group created: the reviews show on every product page of the group.” and the group in the Your groups list.
Good to know:
- A product can be in one group only.
- A review stays with the product it was written for, and its Verified purchase badge doesn’t change.
- In the link for Google Shopping, each review stays on its own product.
To break up a group, press Delete the group next to its name. Each product goes back to showing only its own reviews. No review is deleted.
If something goes wrong
“One of the products is already in another group”. Remove that product from your selection, or delete the other group first.
“Some pages did not update at once”. You don’t need to do anything: they update on their own.
The QR code doesn’t appear and it says the link is too long. Use the link instead of the QR code.
