Offer your reviews to Google Shopping
At a glance
- What you get
- Google can read your product reviews and, if it approves them, show their stars.
- Time

Before you start
Google decides about stars on Google Shopping, not the app. Google asks for:
- at least 50 published reviews;
- a Google Merchant Center account on your store’s domain;
- enrolment in Google’s Product Ratings programme, with its form;
- GTIN codes (EAN or UPC) on your products, in the variants’ barcode field in Shopify;
- Google’s approval, which can take 2 to 4 weeks.
Even with everything in order, stars aren’t guaranteed.
The link only contains the product reviews you’ve published. Store reviews, waiting reviews and hidden reviews stay out.
Create the link
- Open Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG Reviews › Settings.
- Scroll down to the Stars on Google Shopping section.
-
Press Create the feed link.
What you’ll see: “Link created. Copy it into Merchant Center.” and the Feed link field with the address.
- Press Copy link.
Warning: the link is secret. Anyone who has it can read your published reviews. Only give it to Google Merchant Center.
Give it to Google Merchant Center
- Open Google Merchant Center with your store’s account.
- Add a product ratings feed with scheduled fetch, at least once a month.
- Paste the link you copied and save.
The exact menu names are Google’s and may change. If you can’t find them, search for “Product Ratings” in the Merchant Center help.
Check what it contains
-
Go back to Settings › Stars on Google Shopping and press Check what it contains.
What you’ll see: a line such as “The feed holds 64 reviews across 20 products.” If reviews or GTIN codes are missing, a yellow notice says so.
Below the link you can also see when Google last read it (“Last read: …”) or “Not read yet.”
Change or remove the link
- Generate a new link replaces the old one straight away. Afterwards you need to paste the new link into Merchant Center.
- Remove the link switches it off: Google can no longer read your reviews.
Warning: with both actions the old link stops working at once. If you don’t update Merchant Center, Google no longer reads your reviews.
If something goes wrong
The notice says I have fewer than 50 reviews. Google doesn’t show ratings below that threshold. Keep collecting reviews: the link updates on its own.
The notice says only a few products have a GTIN. Add the barcode (EAN or UPC) to your product variants in Shopify. Without it, Google struggles to match reviews to products.
Some reviews are left out. Their product is no longer public or isn’t synced. Check the product in Shopify.
