Before you start
Warning: after you uninstall, Shopify asks the app to delete your store’s data, usually about 48 hours later. At that point reviews, requests, photos, counters and settings are deleted for good. Afterwards there’s nothing left to export.
If you want to keep your reviews, export them first.
1. Export your reviews
- Open Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG Reviews › Settings.
- In the Data and privacy section, press Export your reviews.
-
In the Export section, press Export the reviews.
What you’ll see: the File ready box with the Download the file link.
- Press Download the file and keep the CSV file on your computer.
2. Remove the blocks from your theme (optional)
Once the app is gone, its blocks no longer show anything. If you want a tidy theme, remove them first:
- Open Online Store › Themes › Customize.
- On a product page, click the IFG Reviews — reviews block and remove it. Do the same with IFG Reviews — star badge and any other app block you added.
- Under App embeds, switch off the app’s embeds if you had turned them on.
- Press Save.
3. Cancel your paid plan
If you’re on Grow or Unlimited, uninstalling also ends the subscription: Shopify handles it. If you’d rather do it first, on Plans press Back to the Free plan and confirm in Shopify. See Plans and billing.
4. Uninstall
- In the Shopify admin, open Settings › Apps and sales channels.
- Find IFG Reviews in the list and open it.
-
Press Uninstall app and confirm.
What you’ll see: IFG Reviews is no longer in your list of installed apps.
These menu names are Shopify’s and may change slightly.
What happens next
- Straight away: request emails stop. Nothing more goes out for your store, not even requests already scheduled.
- About 48 hours later: Shopify sends the erasure request. Your store’s reviews, requests, photos, counters, settings and credentials are permanently deleted.
- What remains: only a log of the privacy requests handled, with no data about your customers, as proof that the erasure was done.
If you reinstall the app after the erasure, you start from scratch. You can import the file you exported: see Import and export.
All the details are in Privacy and data.
If something goes wrong
I uninstalled without exporting. Write to us straight away at info@ifgecommerce.com. After the erasure, though, the data can’t be recovered: that’s why the export has to come first.
My store still shows an empty space where the reviews were. Remove the block in the theme editor as in step 2 and press Save.
