Uninstall the app

Before you start
Decide what you want to stay in the store:
- Want to keep the images in WebP? You don’t need to do anything: after uninstalling they stay as they are.
- Want to go back to the originals? Undo the conversions before uninstalling, one by one: Undo a conversion. After uninstalling the app can no longer do it.
Warning: uninstalling can’t be undone from the app. The app’s data about your store is deleted for good shortly after, and with it the ability to undo the conversions.
Step by step
- In Shopify Admin open Settings, then the apps section (Apps or Apps and sales channels, depending on your Admin version).
- Find IFG WebP Image Optimizer in the list.
- Open the app’s menu and choose Uninstall.
-
Confirm in Shopify’s window.
What you’ll see: the app disappears from the list and from the Apps menu.
What happens next
- Your images stay as they are. Converted ones keep using the WebP file. The originals stay in the Files library.
- The WebP files stay in the Files library. The app doesn’t delete them.
- The subscription ends. Shopify stops the app’s subscription when you uninstall it.
- The app’s access to the store ends right away.
- The app’s data is deleted. When Shopify sends the deletion request, normally 48 hours after uninstalling, the app permanently deletes your store’s data: the image inventory, the scans and the conversion records. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
If something goes wrong
I don’t see the uninstall command. Your account doesn’t have permission to manage apps. Ask the store owner.
I uninstalled and want the originals back. You can put the images back by hand in Shopify Admin, choosing the original file again in the gallery or in the text. The original file is still in the Files library.
