Changelog
All changes that reach merchants, newest first. Each release gets one entry, named with the same version the app shows in its footer.
v1.0.2 — October 9, 2026
Changed
- Formal tone in German and French. The app now always addresses you as «Sie» in German and «vous» in French; plans are called «forfait» in French.
- Same names everywhere. Support is «Soporte» in every Spanish screen, and the Italian button reads «Vai alla Panoramica».
Fixed
- Error screen in your language. If a page fails to load, the error screen now shows in your language (Italian, English, German, French, Spanish or Portuguese) instead of always in English.
v1.0.1 — October 8, 2026
Changed
- "Already WebP" label. Files that were WebP before you used the app are now labelled "Already WebP", apart from the images the app converted. Images has a matching filter. The counts do not change, and these files never count towards your plan.
- One save in Settings. Language and conversion choices are saved together from Shopify's save bar, which appears as soon as you change something and lets you save or discard.
- Clearer navigation. Convert all no longer shows a "Back" link above its title; an image's page links back to Images.
- Same words everywhere. The English texts now always say "catalog".
- Automatic language. The language control starts with "Automatic (Shopify account language)", the default at first install: the app follows the language of your Shopify account. Choosing it again after picking a language goes back to following it.
- Monthly or annual on Plans. A selector shows the Unlimited price per month or per year, with the annual saving as a percentage (-17%), and the price stays on one line. A store already billed yearly sees the annual price first.
- No symbols in the copy. The completed steps on the Overview use Shopify's own check icon.
v1.0.0 — October 3, 2026
Version numbering starts again from 1.0.0 today. This entry describes what the app does now.
What IFG WebP Image Optimizer does today
- Real WebP conversion, file by file. Each image gets a new
.webpfile next to the original. The original is never deleted. - References move to the new file. The product gallery, variant images and images written in the text of product descriptions, pages, blog articles and collection descriptions point to the WebP file.
- Scan first, change nothing. The scan reads your images and where each one is used. Nothing is touched until you convert.
- One image or all of them. Convert a single image after checking where it is used, or use Convert all: it works one image at a time while the page stays open, and picks up where you left off if you close it.
- Undo, image by image. Products and content go back to the original; in texts only the references the app changed are restored, and your other edits stay.
- Two plans, same features. Free converts 100 images in total; Unlimited has no cap, with a 7-day free trial. Only successful conversions count.
- In six languages. The admin is available in Italian, English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
- What it does not promise. It is a converter, not a speed booster: on the stores we measured, converting the stored files cut image weight by a few percent. Images chosen directly in the theme stay on the original file, which keeps working.
