Scontrik can’t know on its own how long your warranty lasts or how many days you have to return something: you enter it, taking it from the warranty card or the store’s terms. The app counts the days and reminds you.

Note: Scontrik doesn’t tell you what your legal rights are. It only counts the dates you set.

Before you start

  • The purchase needs a confirmed purchase date: the warranty starts from it. If it’s missing, you can set it during the steps below or confirm it first (Check the “To check” details).
  • To receive reminders, Scontrik’s notifications must be on (Settings › Reminders › Notifications must say On).
  • On the free plan you can have up to 3 active reminders in total, across warranties and returns.

Add a warranty

  1. Open the purchase from the home screen.

  2. In the Protection section, tap Add a warranty. You can also tap the menu with three dots at the top right and choose Warranty.

What you’ll see: the Warranty window opens with the question How long is the warranty?.

  3. Tap the length: 1 yr, 2 yr (the starting one), 3 yr or 5 yr. For another length, tap Custom and use the + and − buttons to choose the months, from 1 to 120.

What you’ll see: below, Coverage ends shows the date the warranty ends.

  4. Leave Remind me before it ends on if you want the notification.

  5. Under Notify me, choose how many days before: 7, 14, 30 or 60. The starting value is the one set in Settings › Reminders › Remind me (30 days, unless you changed it).

  6. If you want Scontrik to suggest the same length for other purchases from the same store, turn on Remember for followed by the store’s name. It’s off to start with.

  7. Tap Save at the top right.

What you’ll see: the window closes. In the Protection section you see the days left, the end date («Ends …») and Reminder on.

The notification arrives at 10 am on the chosen day. If that moment has already passed, no reminder is scheduled.

If the purchase has no confirmed date

The Warranty window shows «This proof has no confirmed purchase date yet.»

  1. Tap Set the purchase date.

  2. Choose the date under Purchase date.

  3. Carry on from step 3 above. As long as the date is missing, Save stays disabled.

Change or remove a warranty

  1. Open the purchase and tap the warranty box in the Protection section.

  2. Change the length or the reminder and tap Save.

  3. To remove it, tap Remove warranty at the bottom.

Add a return period

Useful for online orders or stores that give you a certain number of days to bring a product back.

  1. Open the purchase.

  2. In the Return period section, tap Add a return period.

What you’ll see: the Return period window opens.

  3. Under Days to return, tap a value (7, 14, 15, 30 or 60) or use + and − for any number from 1 to 365. The starting value is 30.

  4. Under Counted from, choose Purchase date or Delivery date.

  5. Under Reminder, leave Remind me on and choose under Remind me before 1, 2, 3 or 7 days before (2 to start with).

  6. Remember for followed by the store’s name is on to start with: next time you buy from the same store, Scontrik suggests the same rule. Turn it off if you don’t want that.

  7. Tap Save.

What you’ll see: the Return period section shows «Return period ends …» and the days left.

Watch out: take the number of days from the store’s terms. If the number is wrong, the reminder arrives on the wrong day too.

If you count from the delivery date

Until you know when the parcel arrives, the section says Waiting for the delivery date. When it arrives:

  1. On the same purchase, in the History section, tap Add to history.

  2. Choose Delivered, set the Date and tap Save.

What you’ll see: the return period starts counting from that day.

Use a rule you already saved

If you saved a rule for a store, the Return period section of a new purchase from that store shows Your rule for … with the days. Tap the box to use it, then Save.

See and delete saved rules

  1. Open Settings (the gear at the top right of the home screen).

  2. Under Reminders, tap Return rules.

What you’ll see: you see the return rules per store and, under Warranty, the saved warranty lengths.

  3. Tap the bin next to a rule to delete it.

  4. Tap Done.

If something goes wrong

I see «Warranty saved. Reminders are limited on the free plan.» The warranty is saved, but you already have 3 active reminders. Remove a reminder you no longer need or go Pro (Scontrik Pro and subscriptions).

I see «Warranty saved, but notifications are off.» Tap Open Settings and turn on notifications for Scontrik.

The reminder didn’t arrive. Check that Scontrik’s notifications are on in the iPhone settings and that the purchase shows Reminder on. A purchase moved to Recently deleted sends no reminders.

The return period says «Waiting for the purchase date». Confirm the purchase date (Check the “To check” details).
