Before you start
These features are optional. To see anything in the widgets and in Siri you need at least one purchase with a warranty (Warranties, returns and reminders).
Scontrik’s widgets
Scontrik has two widgets:
- Warranties ending soon: how many warranties end in the next 60 days and in how many days the next one ends. Available in small and medium size for the Home Screen, and in the Lock Screen sizes.
- Scan a receipt: one tap opens Scontrik’s camera. Available in small size and as a round Lock Screen widget.
Purchase names stay hidden in widgets unless you allow them (see below).
Add a widget to the Home Screen
On the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty spot until the icons start to jiggle.
Tap Edit at the top left, then Add Widget.
Search for Scontrik and tap it.
Swipe to choose the widget and its size.
Tap Add Widget.
What you’ll see: the widget appears on the Home Screen. You can drag it wherever you like, then tap Done.
The exact button names depend on your iOS version.
Add a widget to the Lock Screen
With the iPhone unlocked, touch and hold the Lock Screen.
Tap Customize and choose the Lock Screen.
Tap the widget area under the time.
Choose Scontrik and the widget you want.
Tap Done.
Show names in widgets
In Scontrik, open Settings.
Under Search and Siri, turn on Show names in widgets.
What you’ll see: warranty names can then appear on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen.
Watch out: leave it off if other people can see your phone. With Lock the app on, names stay hidden anyway.
Siri and Shortcuts
You can ask Siri, for example:
- «Scan a receipt with Scontrik» (opens the camera);
- «Which warranties are ending in Scontrik»;
- «Find a purchase in Scontrik» (Siri asks which one, then opens the purchase);
- «What needs checking in Scontrik».
Siri never reads out amounts, and for these requests the iPhone must be unlocked. The same actions (Scan a receipt, Find a purchase, Warranties ending soon, Purchases to check) are also in the Shortcuts app, so you can build your own automations.
Note: if Lock the app is on, Siri only says that some warranties end soon and asks you to open Scontrik to see them.
Search your purchases with Spotlight
Spotlight is the iPhone’s search (swipe down on the Home Screen). It’s off to start with.
In Scontrik, open Settings.
Under Search and Siri, turn on Show purchases in Spotlight.
What you’ll see: names, stores and dates of your purchases can appear in the iPhone’s search. Amounts never do.
Go back to the Home Screen, swipe down and type the name of a purchase or a store.
Tap the Scontrik result.
What you’ll see: that purchase opens directly.
To take purchases out of the iPhone’s search, turn off Show purchases in Spotlight. Lock the app removes them too.
If something goes wrong
The widget shows «None in the next 60 days». No saved warranty ends in the next 60 days. That’s normal.
The widget doesn’t update. Open Scontrik: widgets get the latest dates when you open and leave the app.
The widget shows only numbers, no names. That’s the starting behaviour. Turn on Show names in widgets, and check that Lock the app is off.
Siri doesn’t understand the request. Use the phrases above, with «Scontrik» at the end, or run the action from the Shortcuts app.
