How settings are saved
- Go to Apps › IFG Returns › Settings.
-
Change one or more options.
What you’ll see: at the top of the admin the bar “Unsaved changes” appears with Save and Discard.
-
Click Save (in the bar or at the top right). Discard returns to the saved values.
What you’ll see: the message “Settings saved successfully!”.
Options not included in your plan stay visible but grey, with the pill of the plan that unlocks them (Grow → or Unlimited →). Clicking it opens the Plans page.
At the top of the page there is always the box “Your return rules, managed right here”: Shopify’s native return rules don’t apply to the app.
Integration and Form
| Setting | What it does | Default | When to change it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interface language and admin email | Language of the app, of emails to you and of emails to the customer. | Automatic (Shopify account language) | If you want a fixed language, different from your Shopify account’s. |
| Withdrawal period in days | How many days the customer has, from delivery, to request withdrawal. | 14 days (EU Standard) | Grow and Unlimited plans: to offer 30 days or a number of your choice with Custom… and the Custom withdrawal days field. On the Free plan it is locked at 14. |
| Notification email (Admin) | The address that receives alerts. | The one entered in the setup wizard | If the person handling returns changes. |
Send Test Email sends a test email straight away to the address typed in the field, even before saving.
Warning: a period below 14 days is not compliant with Directive 2011/83/EU. If you set one, the red box “Not compliant with the EU Directive” appears, and the form still grants at least 14 days.
Merchant Legal Data
These appear in the confirmation email to the customer, as Directive 2011/83/EU requires.
- Business Name / Store Name — required for compliance.
- VAT Number / Tax ID — optional.
- Registered office address — required for compliance.
Return Shipping Address
The address the customer sends goods back to. If filled in, it appears in the approval email.
- Company / Warehouse Name, Street Address, ZIP / Postal Code, City, Province / State, Country, Phone (optional).
- Copy from Legal Data above copies company name and registered office address into the return fields.
- Who pays return shipping: Paid by the customer (default) or Paid by the shop (free return). The choice is shown to the customer in the form and in the confirmation email (Art. 14 of the Directive).
Street, postal code, city and country count towards the compliance badge on the Overview.
Automations and Appearance
| Setting | Plan | What it does | Default |

Off |
| Custom tag text | Unlimited | Uses your own text instead of withdrawal-declared, for example withdrawal-requested. |
Empty |

Advanced options
Click Advanced options to open the section. It opens on its own if the DPA is not accepted.
Data Processing Agreement (DPA)
The DPA is accepted in the setup wizard. Here you can read it again with Read complete DPA ↗, accept it with the checkbox and Accept DPA, or revoke it with Revoke DPA Agreement.
Warning: the DPA is your agreement that lets the app process customer data on your behalf. If you revoke it, the red box “Legal Compliance Error” appears and the Overview badge goes back to “Not Compliant (Art. 9 EU Dir.)”. Accept it again as soon as you can.
Terms of Service
You can read them with Read complete Terms ↗ or Open the Terms on the website ↗, accept them with the checkbox and Accept the Terms, or revoke your acceptance. Below you see the version and the date you accepted them.
Configure SMTP Server (Optional) — Unlimited plan
SMTP Host, SMTP Port, SMTP Username and SMTP Password: used to send emails from your own domain. See Emails to the customer and to you.
Custom CSS — Unlimited plan
A field for style rules for the form on your store. Only use it if you know CSS: a wrong rule can make the form hard to read.
Privacy Policy
The text of the app’s privacy notice, read-only.
Troubleshooting
The Save button is grey. You haven’t changed anything compared with the saved values.
I see “An error occurred. Please try again.” Saving failed. Wait a few seconds and click Save again: your changes are still on the page.
