Before you start

You must have completed the setup wizard. You need access to your store’s theme editor.

Three ways to show the form

The app adds three blocks to your theme. They show the same form in three different ways, and you can use them together.

Name in the theme editor Name on the app Overview What the customer sees
Module Embedded form The full form inside a page, for example a “Withdrawal” page.
Pop-up Popup button A button on the page. On click, the form opens in a window over the page.
Floating Floating button A button fixed at the bottom of the screen, on every page or on one only.

On the app’s Form editor page the same blocks are described as “EU Return Form”, “Return Popup” and “Floating Button”.

Tip: the most common setup is a dedicated page with the Module block, linked from the footer menu, plus the Floating button on every page.

Method 1 — A dedicated page with the Module block

Create a page template

  1. In the Shopify admin, go to Online Store › Themes.
  2. On your published theme, click Customize.

What you’ll see: the theme editor opens with a preview of the home page.

  3. At the top, open the template selector (it usually shows “Home page”) and click Create template.
  4. Choose Page as the base, type a name such as returns, and confirm.

What you’ll see: the editor shows the new page template, still empty.

Create the page and assign the template

  1. In another tab, go to Online Store › Pages and click Add page.
  2. Type a title, for example Returns / Right of withdrawal.
  3. On the right, under Theme template, choose the template you just created.
  4. Click Save.

Add the Module block

  1. Go back to the theme editor and open the page you created (choose your template from the template selector).
  2. In the left sidebar, under Apps, click Add block.
  3. Choose Module.

What you’ll see: the preview shows the “Withdrawal Request” form with the 3-step bar.

  4. Click Save at the top right.

Warning: when you save the published theme, the form is immediately visible to customers on the page you created.

Method 2 — A Pop-up button inside a page

  1. In the theme editor, open the page where you want the button.
  2. Under Apps in the left sidebar, click Add block and choose Pop-up.

What you’ll see: a button appears in the preview. If you click it, the form opens in a window.

  3. In the block settings, under Trigger Button Text (Art. 11a), you can type the button text. If you leave it empty, the standard text is used.
  4. Click Save.

Method 3 — The Floating button

  1. In the theme editor, open the App embeds panel (the apps icon in the left sidebar).
  2. Find Floating from IFG Returns and turn on its switch.

What you’ll see: the floating button appears at the bottom of the preview.

  3. Open the Floating settings if you want to change position and text:
    • Show only on this page: leave it empty to show the button on every page; pick a page to show it only there.
    • Horizontal Position: right or left.
    • Distance from Bottom: how many pixels above the bottom edge.
    • Floating Button Text (Art. 11a): the button text.
  4. Click Save.

If another fixed button is already in the same corner, for example a chat, the floating button moves up on its own so as not to cover it.

So customers can always find the withdrawal option, add the page you created to your store’s footer menu, in Shopify’s navigation menus. The link text can be, for example, “Withdrawal”.

Check that the form is active

  1. Open the app: Apps › IFG Returns › Overview.
  2. In the Theme integration status section, click Verify Activation.

What you’ll see: the button changes to “Verifying…”, then each row shows its status: “Floating button” Active or Inactive, “Embedded form” and “Popup button” Added or Not added.

  3. Also check the badge at the top: with at least one active block, DPA accepted and legal details filled in, it reads “Compliant with Art. 9 EU Dir. 2011/83/EU”.

The check only looks at the published theme. A block added to a draft theme doesn’t count.

Troubleshooting

I can’t find the Apps section or the Add block button in the sidebar. Your theme doesn’t accept app blocks in that spot. Use the Floating button, which works from “App embeds”, or try the block in another section of the page.

The Overview says “Not added” even though I added the block. Check that you clicked Save in the theme editor and that you did it on the published theme. Then click Verify Activation again.

I tried sending the form in the theme editor preview and I see “Preview mode: no request was actually sent.” That’s normal: inside the theme editor the form doesn’t create real requests. Try it on the published store, as explained in What the customer sees.
