What you need
- A Shopify store with the Online Store active and a theme you can open in the theme editor (Shopify Admin › Online Store › Themes › Customize).
- Permission to install apps. If you own the store, you already have it. If you are a staff member, the owner must have given it to you.
- An email address for the app’s notifications: questions the chatbot can’t answer, emails left by customers and requests about personal data. The app won’t let you continue without one.
- At least one contact channel, your choice:
- a WhatsApp number in international format, without the + sign and without spaces. Example: for the UK number +44 7700 900123 type
447700900123; - a Telegram username, without the @ sign. It must be 5 to 32 characters long, using letters, numbers and underscores (
_).
Without at least one of them, visitors can’t see the widget, unless you use the AI chatbot as the click action.
- a WhatsApp number in international format, without the + sign and without spaces. Example: for the UK number +44 7700 900123 type
- For the AI chatbot: the Grow or Unlimited (500 conversations/month) plan. You can start with a 7-day free trial. Details are in Plans and billing.
What the app asks of your store
During installation Shopify shows you the permissions the app requests. They are all read-only:
- products, to answer about prices, variants and availability;
- legal policies (returns, shipping, privacy, terms), to answer about those rules;
- Online Store pages, to use their text in answers;
- themes, to check whether the widget is switched on in your theme.
The app does not request orders, payments or customer records.
What the app does not do
- It doesn’t touch orders. The chatbot doesn’t edit orders, start returns, exchanges or refunds, or apply discounts. It only answers.
- It isn’t a live chat with an agent. People message you on WhatsApp or Telegram, and you reply there from your messaging app. Inside the AI chat only the assistant answers.
- It doesn’t read blog posts. It uses products, collections, policies, published pages and the entries you write in the knowledge base.
- It doesn’t guarantee prices and availability. The chatbot checks them on your store at the moment it answers, but they remain information to confirm at checkout.
- It doesn’t keep conversations beyond 30 days. After 30 days they are deleted.
