Create product FAQs
At a glance
- What you get
- Useful questions and answers on every product, visible to customers and readable by AI engines.
- Time
- 10 minutes for the first product
- Plan
- Grow and Unlimited
Before you start
- You need the Grow or Unlimited plan. On the Free plan the page shows the “Unlock AI FAQ generation” box with the Upgrade to Grow → button. On Free you can still get a few FAQs with Resolve in Catalog audit.
- The more complete the product (options, description, specifications), the more precise the FAQs. The AI only uses the product’s data.
Show FAQs on the product page (once)
Approved FAQs reach your customers through the GEO FAQ block, which you add once to the product page template.
-
Go to Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG GEO Optimizer › Product FAQ and press Open theme editor.
What you’ll see: Shopify’s theme editor in a new tab.
- At the top, in the page selector, choose the products template.
- In the product information section, add a block and choose GEO FAQ among the app blocks.
- Drag the block where you want it to appear, for example under the description.
- Press Save.
The block has its own settings in the theme editor: Title (optional), Title heading level, Text alignment, Text size, Spacing between questions, the colours of title, questions, answers, background and border, Show expand/collapse icon, Questions font and the space above and below the block. If you leave the title empty, the block shows a title already translated into the visitor’s language.
Note: the block appears in your store only on products with at least one approved FAQ. In the theme editor you see a preview.
Generate and publish FAQs
-
In Per-product generated FAQ, choose the product in the Product field.
What you’ll see: “Checking existing FAQs…”, then the FAQs already created for that product or the message “No FAQs generated for this product yet. Click “Generate 3 more FAQs” to start.”
- In FAQ generation language, choose the language you want the FAQs in.
-
Press Generate 3 more FAQs.
What you’ll see: after a few seconds three drafts appear, each with the Question and Answer fields. The Generations this month counter goes up by one.
- Read each draft and correct the question or answer directly in the fields, if needed.
-
Press Approve and publish on the drafts that are fine and Discard on those you don’t want.
What you’ll see: the approved draft gets the “Saved for AI engines” label. The product enters the Products with approved FAQ list.
Warning: Approve and publish makes the FAQ visible on the product page of your store, if the GEO FAQ block is in your theme. If a draft contains numbers that aren’t in the product data, a warning appears: check them before approving.
Check published FAQs
- Scroll down to Products with approved FAQ. Each row shows the product and the number of FAQs, for example “3 FAQ”.
- Press Show FAQs to read them here, or View on storefront to open the product page in your store.
Limits to know
- Each press of Generate 3 more FAQs creates 3 drafts and counts as one generation. Grow and Unlimited have 500 generations a month; the counter restarts on the first day of the month.
- On Grow each product has FAQs in one language only. On Unlimited you can publish FAQs in several languages for the same product: each visitor sees those in the language of the store they’re browsing.
If something goes wrong
I see “You’ve reached the 500 generations cap for this month. Try again next month.” You’ve used the month’s 500 generations. The counter restarts on the first day of next month.
The button is grey and I see a message about another language. On Grow, the product already has approved FAQs in another language. Generate in the same language or upgrade to Unlimited.
I approved the FAQs but I can’t see them in my store. The GEO FAQ block isn’t in the product page template yet, or the product isn’t published on the Online Store channel. Redo the steps in “Show FAQs on the product page”.
I see “Too many attempts in a short time — please wait a few minutes and try again.” You ran many generations in a row. Wait a few minutes.
