Connect your theme and publish the AI files
At a glance
- What you get
- Your theme connected to the app, the files for AI agents published on your domain and your company details verified online.
- Time
- 10 minutes
- Plan
- All plans (two checks Unlimited only)
Before you start
- Complete the first setup.
- Keep another tab open with your Shopify Admin: some actions open the theme editor.
Everything below is in Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG GEO Optimizer › Catalog audit › Integration & structure. The sections come in this order; next to each title there’s an “i” icon that opens a short explanation with an example.
Check the GEO Schema block
The Theme integration section shows the block’s status: Active, Not active or Not yet checked.
- If the status isn’t Active, press Open theme editor ↗.
- In the theme editor, turn on GEO Schema under app embeds and press Save.
-
Go back to the app and press Check activation.
What you’ll see: the status becomes Active. The check only looks at the published theme, not at drafts.
Tip: in the theme editor the GEO Schema block has one option, Default product condition: New (the starting value), Used, Refurbished or Damaged. It applies to products without a condition tag; if a product has a tag such as “used”, the tag wins.
Check your theme
These checks read your theme files and don’t change anything. If a check says “partial” or “try again shortly”, run it again: it’s usually a temporary hiccup.
-
In JSON-LD schema conflicts, press Check theme for JSON-LD conflicts.
What you’ll see: “No conflict detected: neither theme.liquid nor your theme’s sections already declare any of these schema types.” or a “Your theme already has its own Product schema” box naming the theme file where it was found.
-
In Hidden Custom Liquid blocks, press Check theme for hidden Custom Liquid blocks.
What you’ll see: “No hidden Custom Liquid blocks detected in your theme’s templates.” or the list of suspicious blocks, with the hidden text and the theme section where it sits. The app never changes or removes theme content: you decide.
-
In Duplicate content, press Check for duplicate content. It compares pages and blog articles and finds those covering the same topic at different addresses.
Note: if the conflict check finds a theme schema of the same type, the app recommends keeping the theme’s one. The GEO Schema block is switched on and off as a whole from the theme editor: if you’re not sure which to keep, write to support.
On the Unlimited plan you find two more checks, which use AI and have a monthly limit:
- Factual contradictions across pages (20 per month): compares your theme texts with a sample of product descriptions and shows the statements that contradict each other. Press Check for factual contradictions.
- Uncited statistics (25 per month): looks for precise numbers without a nearby source in your pages and blog articles. Press Check for uncited statistics.
On Free and Grow these two sections are visible but locked, with a button to upgrade to Unlimited. Duplicate content has a monthly limit per plan: 10 on Free, 50 on Grow, 150 on Unlimited.
Generate the files for AI agents
Three files describe your store to software agents and integrations:
- llms.txt: the list of products and collections, one line per product with name, price and link.
- llms-full.txt: the full version, with complete descriptions, codes, specifications and approved FAQs.
- agents.md: instructions for shopping agents (how to browse the catalog, checkout rules, store policies).
Note: today these files mainly serve developer agents and integrations. There’s no evidence that they increase citations on ChatGPT or Perplexity. The files are always written in English, the language AI engines interpret most reliably.
-
In llms.txt — index for AI engines, press Generate preview.
What you’ll see: the file preview and the Public URL with the Copy URL button. To see the whole text, press Show full preview.
- Do the same in llms-full.txt — full catalog for AI agents and agents.md — guidance for AI shopping agents.
- When you change products or prices, press Refresh preview to regenerate the preview.
Publish the files to your theme
The Publish AI files to active theme section writes the three files to your published theme, so they can be reached at your store’s address: yourstore.com/llms.txt, yourstore.com/llms-full.txt and yourstore.com/agents.md.
Warning: this action writes files into your store’s published theme. If another app already wrote one of these files, the app won’t touch it without your confirmation.
-
Press Publish to active theme.
What you’ll see: “AI files published to your active theme.” and, under “Available at:”, the three addresses.
-
If “Another app already wrote llms.txt” appears, choose Replace with IFG to replace it with the app’s file or Cancel to leave it as it is.
The files contain your catalog as it was when you published. After changing products, prices or descriptions, press Publish to active theme again. If you later publish a different theme, the app rewrites the files on the new theme by itself, as long as you’ve published them at least once with this button.
Note: on a very large catalog llms-full.txt may contain only part of your products, because Shopify limits the size of a theme file. The app tells you how many products are included.
Verify your company details online
The Organization schema section shows a score from 0 to 100 for the company details entered in Settings and the list of What’s missing, for example “VAT number or registry number”.
- If something is missing, press Edit in Settings and complete the fields (see All settings).
-
Come back here and press Verify online.
What you’ll see: “Verified: the schema is live and matches your configured data.” if your store’s home page shows the same details as your settings. If something differs, the app tells you what and offers Fix in Settings or Verify again.
If something goes wrong
The check says “No Organization schema found on the homepage. Check that the “GEO Schema” block is active in your theme.” The GEO Schema block isn’t active in the published theme. Turn it on as explained at the top of this page.
Publishing says “Access denied: the app doesn’t have theme write permission yet. Re-install the app to grant the new write_themes scope.” The installation isn’t allowed to write to the theme. Remove the app and install it again to grant it: you’ll need to redo the setup.
Publishing says “No published theme found — publish a theme in your store settings first.” Your store has no published theme. Publish one in Online Store › Themes and try again.
The files weren’t written because of an “unusual repetition”. The store description in Settings looks damaged. Fix it and press Publish to active theme again.
