Before you start

Settings are in Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG GEO Optimizer › Settings. They hold the same information as the first setup: here you can change it whenever you like.

How to save

  1. Change one or more fields.

What you’ll see: the save bar appears at the top of the Shopify Admin, with buttons to save and to discard (in your Admin language, for example Save and Discard).

  2. Press Save to save all the page’s changes together, or Discard to go back to the saved values.

What you’ll see: the message “Settings saved.”, “Company data saved.” or “App language updated.”.

Warning: once saved, policies and company details go straight into the data that AI engines read on every product page and on your store’s home page. Only enter true, up-to-date information.

Structured data policies (schema.org)

These values apply to all products, not one product at a time. At the start they are empty, unless you filled them in during the first setup.

Field What it does When to change it
Return window (days) How many days customers have to request a return. Choose 14 days (EU minimum), 30, 60 or 90 days. When you change your return policy. Under 14 days isn’t possible: it’s the legal minimum in the EU.
Who pays return costs Free returns or Customer pays. When you change who pays for return shipping.
Days to send items back after withdrawal Optional. If you fill it in, the return window means the time to notify withdrawal and this field the time to send the product back. If your policy separates the two deadlines.
Refund standard delivery costs Yes, refunded or No, not refunded: says whether you refund standard delivery costs on a return. If your refund policy changes.
Declared return exclusions (optional) Free text listing products that can’t be returned. If some products are excluded from returns.
Order handling days Days between the order and handing the parcel to the carrier. When your preparation times change.
Shipping transit days Days the parcel travels after shipping. When you change carrier or service.

Shipping zones

Under the shipping fields you find one or more zones, Shipping zone 1, Shipping zone 2 and so on. Each zone has:

To add a zone press Add zone (20 at most). To remove one press Remove zone.

Note: with Varies by destination, order value or weight or Calculated at checkout by the carrier the app publishes no amount, because there’s no single price valid for every order: publishing a wrong one would be worse. Delivery times, destinations and the link to your shipping page are still published.

Company data (Organization schema)

This information appears on your store’s home page in the format Google uses to recognise a real business. Every field is optional: the more you fill in, the more complete the profile. You can check the result in Connect your theme and publish the AI files.

Field What to enter
What your store does One or two plain, true sentences about what you sell. It also goes into the llms.txt and agents.md files.
Legal business name The full legal name, for example “Rossi Fashion S.r.l.”, not just the store name.
VAT number Your VAT number with the country prefix, for example IT12345678901.
Business registry number Your company’s business register number.
Business address The address on one line: street, postcode, city and country.

Social profiles are under Advanced options, closed at first and open if you’ve already entered a link: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube and Other links (one link per line). They help AI engines understand that your store and those profiles are the same business.

App language

The Interface language menu changes the language of the app’s interface. It starts as Automatic (Shopify account language). It doesn’t change the language used to generate FAQs and descriptions, which you choose each time on the feature’s page.

MCP Server

Available on Grow and Unlimited. It lets you connect an external program that supports MCP (for example Claude Desktop) to your store’s GEO readiness data, read-only: nothing can be bought or changed from there.

  1. Copy the address from the Endpoint URL field.
  2. Press Generate key.

What you’ll see: the “Copy your API key now” box with the key in the API key field.

  3. Copy the key right away and paste it, together with the address, into your MCP program’s settings.

Warning: the key is shown only once. If you lose it you have to press Regenerate key and confirm with Regenerate: the old key stops working immediately and must be replaced in every program that uses it.

On the Free plan the section is visible but locked, with a button to upgrade to Grow.

If something goes wrong

I see “Settings saved, but syncing with Shopify failed — try saving again shortly.” The data is saved in the app, but Shopify hasn’t received it yet. Save again shortly.

I see “EU law requires a minimum 14-day right of withdrawal — you can’t set a shorter period.” Choose at least 14 days for returns.

I see “Invalid value.” on a zone. Check the country codes (two letters, for example IT) and that rate and threshold are numbers greater than zero.
