Track your visibility on AI engines
At a glance
- What you get
- Know every week whether AI assistants mention your store when a customer asks about your products.
- Time
- 10 minutes to start, then a look each week
- Plan
- Grow and Unlimited
Before you start
- You need the Grow plan (5 questions) or Unlimited (15 questions). On the Free plan the page shows a locked preview with the Upgrade to Grow → button.
- Think of real questions, the way a customer who doesn’t know your store yet would ask them. You don’t need to include your store name.
How the check works
Every week the app asks your questions to the OpenAI API, to Perplexity and to an AI assistant simulation (OpenAI), and counts how many times your store appears in the answers. It makes 3 attempts per engine each week, so the percentages are indicative, not exact measurements. The first result arrives within a week of adding a question.
Note: Gemini is currently suspended: Google’s free service limits requests too much for a reliable weekly check. There’s no restart date yet.
Add the questions to track
- Go to Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG GEO Optimizer › AI Visibility.
- In the Tracked questions section, in the New question field, type a question, for example “What’s the best waterproof hiking backpack?”. 200 characters at most.
-
Press Add.
What you’ll see: the question appears in the list with the status “pending”. The Tracked questions counter shows how many questions you’ve used against your plan’s limit.
- Repeat for the other questions.
On Unlimited you can have the AI suggest questions:
- Choose the language in Question language.
-
Press Generate suggested questions.
What you’ll see: the “AI-suggested questions” box with the proposals.
- Press Add on those you want to track, Discard on the others, or Add all.
To change or remove a question, open More actions on its row and choose Edit or Remove. Removing a question stops future checks; citations already collected stay.
Read the results
- Weekly trend: one line per engine, week by week. Above it you find “Last automatic check: date”.
- On each question you see the result per engine. On Unlimited the Check now button runs the check for that question right away; if it has already been checked this week you see “already checked this week”. On Grow the same button is a pill with a padlock.
Note: if a warning says the weekly check hasn’t run for more than 8 days, the page data may not be up to date. If you still see it the following week, write to Support.
Compare yourself with competitors
- In the AI mentions vs. competitors section, in the Competitor name field, type a competitor’s name (80 characters at most).
-
Press Add. You can track up to 10 competitors.
What you’ll see: until there’s a check, “Data will appear after the first weekly check — results available within 7 days. Estimated date: date.”. After that, a chart comparing how often the engines name you and your competitors in the same answers.
On Unlimited the Suggest competitors button suggests names based on your catalog. They are AI guesses: before adding them, check that the store really exists and is a competitor of yours, because a wrong name skews the chart.
See who is cited instead of you
The Earned media section lists the sites (blogs, reviews, forums) that Perplexity cites when answering your questions, with the “cited N×” label and the Visit site button. These are the sites to ask for a review or a mention. The list keeps citations from the last 6 months.
If something goes wrong
I see “No checks yet — the first one runs within a week of adding a prompt.” That’s normal in the first week. The first check arrives within 7 days of adding the question.
I see “You’ve reached the maximum number of tracked questions for your plan.” You’ve reached your plan’s number of questions: 5 on Grow, 15 on Unlimited. Remove a question or upgrade to Unlimited.
An engine shows “temporarily unavailable”. It’s usually a temporary problem with that engine. The other engines’ results are saved anyway.
My store never appears. That’s useful information, not an error: it means the engines cite others today. Work on Catalog audit and Product FAQ and watch the trend over the weeks.
