What you need
- A Shopify store on any of the Basic, Grow or Advanced plans. You do not need Shopify Plus.
- An Online Store 2.0 theme, meaning a theme that lets you add app blocks in the theme editor (Dawn and recent Shopify Theme Store themes do). If you are not sure what this means, see the Glossary.
- Permission to install apps: you must be the store owner or a staff member allowed to manage apps.
- Your products already set up in Shopify, active and with their inventory. The box uses your real products: it does not create new ones to put inside.
What to prepare
Before you create your first box, decide on paper:
- The box name, for example “Beauty Routine”. Customers will see it.
- The fixed box price, for example $70. This is what the customer pays, whatever products they pick.
- Which products can be chosen: a few specific variants, or whole collections.
- How many items the customer must choose: an exact number (for example 3) or a range (3 to 5).
- Whether the same product can be chosen more than once.
Tip: make sure the box price is not too low compared with the most expensive products a customer can pick. The Analytics page warns you when the customer saving goes above 50% or 80%.
What the app does not do
- It does not create Shopify discounts. The fixed price is the real price of the box product.
- It does not edit your theme code. The builder is a block you add yourself in the theme editor.
- It does not read customer names, emails, phone numbers or addresses. For sales figures it only reads products, quantities and amounts of order lines from the last 60 days.
- It does not handle shipping or inventory separately. Inventory and fulfillment stay on the real products the customer picked.
- It does not sell several copies of the same box on one cart line. Each box has quantity 1: to buy two, the customer builds two. See What your customer sees.
- It does not delete boxes. A box you no longer want to sell is moved to draft. See Managing existing boxes.
