Publishing a box
At a glance
- What you get
- The box on sale, on its product page.
- Time
- 2 minutes
- Plan
- Free (1 active box) or Unlimited
Before you start
- You created the box and checked it: see Creating a box.
- On the Free plan you can have 1 active box at a time. If one is already active, move it to draft first or upgrade to Unlimited: see Plans and billing.
Draft and active: the difference
| Status | Label in the app | What happens in the store |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Draft (yellow) | Customers can’t see or buy the box. |
| Active | Active (green) | The box is on its product page and sells at the fixed price. |
Publish
- Go to Shopify Admin › Apps › IFG Build Your Box › Boxes.
-
Select Edit next to the draft box.
What you’ll see: the box page. The Status section shows the Draft label and the sentence “A draft box is not shown to customers. Publish it when it is ready.”
-
If you have unsaved changes, select Save changes first.
Warning: from here the box becomes visible to customers and they can buy it at the price you set. Check price and products before you continue.
-
Select Publish at the top of the page. Right after creating the box you also find it in the green “Box saved as a draft” panel.
What you’ll see: the message “Box published. Open it with “View in store”.” The label becomes Active and the sentence reads “Customers can see this box on its product page and buy it at the fixed price.” The buttons View in store and Move to draft appear at the top.
- Select View in store to open the box page in a new tab.
Before publishing, the app runs its final checks: the plan, the cart configuration and the box product. Only if they all pass does it activate the product and publish it to your online store.
Note: the first box you publish becomes the default box: the one the builder shows when you place it on the home page or on any page that isn’t a box’s own page. See Adding the builder to your theme.
Move a box back to draft
- Open the page of the active box.
-
Select Move to draft.
Warning: the box disappears from the store immediately and nobody can buy it any more.
What you’ll see: the message “Box moved back to draft.” and the Draft label.
If it was the default box, the builder on the home page shows nothing until you publish another box.
Troubleshooting
The Publish button is greyed out and “The Free plan allows 1 active box” appears. You already have an active box. Move the other box to draft, or select See plans and upgrade to Unlimited.
“The plan cannot be verified right now. The box stays in draft: try again shortly.” appears. Shopify didn’t answer in time. Wait a minute and select Publish again.
The red “Configuration to sync” panel appears. The rules shown don’t match the ones the cart uses. In this case Save changes is active even if you have not changed anything: select Save changes, then Publish. If the panel stays, contact support.
The box is active but I don’t see the builder on its page. The block is missing from your theme. Go to the next step.
